The Artist

On Alto and Tenor Sax

Jimmy Street likes Jazz, but he also is a big fan of all kinds of music. People see a saxophone and often it automatically denotes Jazz to them. But, jazz is only one form of music and Jimmy likes to go to all kinds of places with his music. He wants more sax in more kinds of music! He wants to explore new areas for the saxophone and develop younger listeners. So with the help of his very talented producer and co-writer partner, Max Vasquez . He is delving in Electronica, Hip-Hop and Urban Contemporary sounds. Jimmy feels that younger listeners have been turned off by the constant re-hashing of “Straight-ahead Jazz” and especially “Smooth Jazz” which is for the most part “Elevator music” with perhaps a little more of a groove.

On Flute and Piccolo

Jimmy is also a very accomplished flautist, having studied under some very serious Classical musicians. And, he loves the sound of the piccolo, which you’ll occasionally hear doubling the melody in some of his productions. A few years back, while in Santa Fe, New Mexico, he was turned on to the beautiful sounds of the American Indian flute. Check out an example an example of his Indian Flute playing in “Sleep, My Friend” (There is also a very cool piccolo solo on the track by Jimmy)

On Vocals

He has also been a vocalist for as long as he can remember. He especially loves singing harmonies, from the wonderful sounds of The Eagles to the more sophisticated harmonies of groups like “Take 6”. For example, check out “Vocal Control” and “Sleep, My Friend” by clicking here.
